Virgins Saints & Angels Jewelry is carried in over 300 stores world wide and one of our very favorites is Ambiance in downtown San Luis Obispo, they are one in a million three hundred! The only 2-story retail location in the area, Ambiance is unlike any other store on the Central Coast; proudly holding up one half of the famous “gum wall”, the store has become an iconic part of historic downtown. 2013 marks 40 years in business and every year the store just gets bigger, better, and so much more beautiful! Ambiance encompasses 3,000sf of the most incredible contemporary women’s fashion, shoes, jewelry, and accessories you’ll find anywhere between L.A. and San Francisco.

The focus is on premium brands and quality merchandise. “In a time of disposable fashion, and outsourced jobs, we strive to support local artists and designers, Made-in-USA garments, and domestic employment in the industry. We call it Retail with a conscience,” says Kannyn- store owner. The super friendly and uber-cool staff frequently host shopping events to benefit local charities such as the Food Bank Coalition and the Women’s Shelter. “Our community has been so incredible and so supportive of the store; we love working with the women who shop here, and are so honored by the trust they place in us. Every day we strive to be worthy of them- by carrying brands that we believe in.”

One of those brands I am proud to say is us! Virgins Saints & Angels has been on display at Ambiance for the last couple years after a customer walked in wearing it, and it was “love at first sight!” The feeling was and remains mutual. “We love Virgins Saints & Angels partly because it’s beautiful- but also because we fell in love with the story behind the brand. 1. If you could only own one album, what would it be?
The Twilight Soundtrack. You can laugh, but it transports me to a time in my life when I was obsessed with the book, and the fairytale romance between Edward and Bella.

2. what is your favorite painting?
Anything my son brings home. He’s especially interested in painting ninjas, that usually turn out looking like flowers. I love them.

3. If you could have an all expenses paid trip to anywhere in the world, where would it be?
Japan. I’ve always had an affinity with the Japanese culture. And being in the fashion industry- I’m so intrigued by the provenance of trends coming out of Japan. Also the landscape is stunning.

4. what is your favorite poem?
I’m a sucker for Edgar Allan Poe.

5. If you could bring one person back from the dead for a dinner date who would it be and why?
Gandhi, because I’d ask him how he was able to live in such a state of grace and simplistic happiness. I think he could teach me a lot about being at peace. But at the same time- I can’t help but want to pick Coco Chanel’s brain… her story and her life are so fascinating. I would love to just be around someone who inspired so many. That would be one interesting dinner date! Equal parts spiritual and superficial. It’s only human, right?
