It was spring of 2006, I was sitting behind the counter in a boutique I was managing, playing with the drawstring on a bag I had just made. It looked like a sacred heart. Then Cheryl Finnegan walked in looking for something to wear to a wedding and a few months later, after a complete re-design of the bag, I was suddenly producing thousands of them every month- making the packaging for Virgins Saints & Angels. A belt project and the Temptation Collection later and I was officially on the design team.
I have always made stuff and played with words. I lived in London before landing in Mexico at the age of twenty-one. My father makes music and my mother makes poems so art was always in my veins. Before VSA I had never given much thought to jewelry except the wearing of it.
This is my voice, or the journey of me finding it. I swear a lot, I’ll try not to here. I may occasionally say things that my team would disagree with; sometimes I say things just to wind them up. It is 2012 and I have decided to become a New Yorker. I am looking for some inspiration, audience, some fresh take. I am looking to carve out a little piece of this big city and make it all my own, and I have all the Virgins Saints AND Angels on my side.
